What is Rummy?

Rummy is a famous Draw and Discard online game with 13 cards. The key objective of the online rummy card game is to improve the Hand of a player. This means whatever cards one has, by drawing and discarding cards to form sets and sequences based on rummy rules.

What is draw and discard?

Each rummy online player is dealt a hand of cards. Drawing is picking a card from the closed deck or the open deck by each player on their turn. While discarding is getting rid of card by placing it on the open deck. To be precise, picking a card is draw and getting rid of a card is discard.

What is Indian rummy?

A classic variant of to make a successful show popular in India is Indian Rummy. The game involves creating sequences and sets of 13 cards. When playing the game, every rummy card game player draws or discards the cards until one player melds his/her cards with valid groups, which meet the ultimate rummy validation rules.

What is a table?

The flat top where players play rummy online is called table.

What is meld and show?

Each player is dealt 13 cards for a particular Hand. The objective of Indian Rummy game is to arrange the given cards into groups. These groups can be either Sets or Sequences. A minimum of 2 Sequences need to have a valid arrangement. Once the rummy online game player has made these group, he/ has to submit the cards in groups for validation. The term “Show” describes as the action of submitting cards. But, to have a successful Show, players have to arrange the cards into sets and sequences. This particular action of arranging the cards in groups is Meld or Melding.

What is a round?

A round of the Rummy game online starts with dealing to each player. It ends with a player making a successful Show or the prize being Split.

What is dealing?

To begin playing a rummy Indian round, the cards have to be given to all players. This act of giving cards to all players is Dealing.

What is a deck of cards?

A full set of cards is a Deck of cards. A Deck of cards has the following cards:
• 52 cards - 4 Suits with 13 cards each
• 1 Wild Card joker – Know as Paper Joker too

What is a joker and how does it help?

Two types of jokers are used in cash rummy. One has the symbol of joker and is the printed joker. The other is a card joker, randomly selected from the deck of cards after the players are dealt with the cards and before the game starts. This joker is different for different games. All cards of the exact rank in any suit similar to the joker are regarded as Joker.A joker is offered to be used in place of any card when forming a set or sequence. But the player has to ensure that he has a sequence without a Joker card to place a valid show.

What is a drop?

Players choosing not to play a specific Round before Drawing the first card, is termed as Drop. The Drop points in the rummy cards is as follows
1. 101 Pool – 20
2. 201 Pool – 25
3. Strikes – 20
4. There is no option to drop in the best of 2 and best of 3

What is middle drop?

Players can select not to play after a round begins. This action is Middle Drop. The Drop points in the rummy game is as follows
1. 101 Pool – 40
2. 201 Pool – 50
3. Strikes – 40
4. There is no option to drop in the best of 2 and best of 3

What is full count?

A Full Count is the maximum possible point for one round. For all types of game of real cash Rummy the full count is 80.

What is a sequence?

A sequence is a group of 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit. A sequence formed without a joker is a Pure Sequence and a sequence formed with a joker is Impure Sequence.

What is a set?

Set is a group of cards of different suits but of same face value.

When do you win or what is a ‘show’?

A rummy games online player wins a game when he/she is the first player at rummy play online table to call for a valid show. The player should have 14 cards, of which he/she would need to select one to discard, before calling for a show. Following this, if the player’s 13 cards can be arranged in specific sets according to the rules of the game, the player is declared the winner.

Validation rules

The rummy game cards have to be arranged as per the validation rules to make a successful show. The rules are listed below:
• One Pure Sequence (Sequence without Joker) – Compulsory. However, the sequence can include a joker if the joker card is used as the card itself and not as a Joker.
• Second Sequence (Can be with or without Joker) - Compulsory
• Remaining cards can be grouped (meld) into sets or sequences of minimum 3 cards each
Note: Penalty points in case of wrong show is 80.
